THERE WILL BE HEAT... Vampire Catherine Adair gave up trying to find her perfect match ages ago. But that didn’t stop her from founding London’s super successful vampire dating site. When a smoldering vampire overlord from her past launches an interspecies speed-dating service, Catherine vows to crush the competition….
WHEN THESE TWO COMPETERonin’s new venture is purely about getting Catherine’s attention. He hasn’t stopped thinking about her ever since the night she gave him the cold shoulder. Nobody gets away from Ronin McDermott that easily...
I was absolutely looking forward to reading the newest book in the Bite Nights series, That Killer Smile. I was familiar with both Ronin McDermott’s and Catherine Adair’s characters from the previous books but that does not mean that this book could not read as a standalone, it absolutely can. I was excited to see how the story would pan out between these two characters because they act like oil and vinegar whenever they are around each other. Despite their outward appearances they both have been secretly craving each other but were too caught up in their personal pasts to give any semblance of future together a chance.
That was until Ronin started coming to terms with the fact that he was not quite happy with his life. There was something missing and that something was Catherine. Of course, he couldn’t come right out and tell her that because quite simply she hated him. Although, there was a way that he knew he could draw her to him, a way that he knew she would not be able to ignore and he was ultimately correct. When Cat realized that Ronin was competing with her vampire dating service she was livid, absolutely livid, and it made her lose all rational sense. If she had kept her wits about her then she would have realized that there was no way she could ever be around Ronin without thinking about the one time they spent together years ago. A time that she could never forget no matter how hard she tried.
Ronin knew that somehow Cat had gotten under his skin and he was going to make sure that she understood that they belonged together, even if he didn’t truly understand his own motivations. Unfortunately, Cat had spent a long time setting the defenses around her heart and it was not going to be that easy for him to convince her that what they had was more than just a tumble between the sheets, even if she secretly wanted more with him too. As the heat stirred between these two characters and they started to let down their defenses they began to see the person behind the façade. They were both going to have to decide once and for all if the future they saw before them was worth giving up the past they had shackled behind them.
What a swoon worthy read That Killer Smile was! I absolutely adored Ronin’s character because his utter honesty with his feelings regarding Catherine was enough to give me the vapors! Oh my! I can’t say that I was very fond of his character in the previous books, don’t get me wrong, he intrigued me and all, but swoon worthy? I would have said no. After reading this story though, I love Ronin’s character immensely. I also liked that there was a mystery element tied in along with the romance, it gave the story a bit more pizzazz. Overall, I found That Killer Smile to be a captivating read that was a fabulous series ender. The final scenes of this book were just too wonderful and I highly recommend not only this book but the series as well.
