You can plan your life, but sometimes life has a mind of its own…

Following Lisa’s near-death experience as a teenager, she is haunted by the emerald-green eyes of the stranger who saved her life. Her only connection to him is the leather jacket he left behind. Years later, she’s still reeling from the aftereffects of her injuries, convinced that no man will love her once he uncovers her secret. She lives a life of solitude and hides behind her days of monotony. And then James storms into her life.

After James helps a young girl in a car accident, he sets his life course—determined that nothing will stand in his way. Once he accomplishes his dreams, one unforeseen event changes his orderly existence into one of chaos. He spirals downward and can’t summon the strength to pull himself from the edge of despair. Until Lisa becomes a beautiful distraction.

Familiarity and a sense of peace draw them to one another. They soon discover they lived parallel lives that intertwined at the most crucial points. Can their revelations help them face their fears and move forward, or will history repeat itself?

For those of you who believe in fate or destiny this story is exactly what you will love to read. Lives Collide is more than just a collision between the lives of two people. It is a tethering of two souls who never realized that they were meant to be together. Lisa Schmitt was a teenager when an accident occurred that left her without a mother and with a bag full of survivor’s guilt. James Kramer was a teenager who was late for work and hustling to get to his job when he witnessed the aftermath of an accident that would be burned into his memory forever. Although their paths crossed briefly it would make an impact that would last a lifetime.

That fateful day shaped both Lisa and James into what they grew up to be. For Lisa, her life has become more of a re-birth after a trial but she still has scars both physically and emotionally. James had everything he ever desired until his life flipped upside down. When his life was at its lowest and Lisa’s life was on the upswing they happen to run into each other, both ignorant to the part they played in each other’s past. When the truth is slowly revealed and the pieces of the puzzle that has been with these characters for years starts to come together, it is going to take true guts for both of these characters to face the truth of their desires and hold onto what it is that they want.

Lives Collide was a story that had me glued to the pages. I found the journey that both of these characters found themselves on to be filled with tragic moments, bittersweet moments, and moments of such pure bliss that I was completely taken with this story. It was nice that this story spanned years of time and that Lisa and James had a past that they both reminisced about from time to time independent of their current connection, otherwise when the romance started it would have been in the insta-love category that I wouldn’t have been able to get behind. It would not have been believable that James’s heart would’ve been receptive at all to a stranger after his loss and vows. The familiarity between the Lisa and James despite being virtual strangers is what brought the romance together in my opinion.

Such a good story! Now there was one thing that I was like hmmm about and that was the drama. What I call over the top-ness of emotional outpouring. James had that in spades and Lisa to a lesser degree. I am not saying that the characters annoyed me, because they did not, I am just saying that there was a level of “over the top-ness” that took place at times that I felt was just a bit much. I also was not in love with James for a lot of the story. He was a bit of a jerk for most of it but he redeemed himself in the end. I also loved that Lisa was patient but in the end not willing to be second best and was willing to stand up for herself, you go girl! Lives Collide was a wonderful story of fate and destiny that took two souls and wove them tightly together and that in the end they became a beautiful redemption for each other.
