Tragedy tore them apart now its giving them a second chance.
FBI Agent Tom Drake has been investigating a string of armed robberies at jewelry stores. The last person he expects to see when he arrives at the scene of the latest robbery is his ex-wife Hannah Buffy.
Hannah is conflicted about seeing her ex-husband again, especially when he starts claiming he thinks the robbery at her store isn't related to the other ones. Is this just another excuse for Tom to treat her like a victim or could he be right?

So, who is up for some Christmastime second chance romance? Me, me, me, and I received that and more with Christmas Hostage. Hannah Buffy has been putting her life back together after she was victimized in a brutal way. It caused the dissolution of her marriage but she has been successfully moving on. That is until her jewelry store was robbed at gun point and she was faced with horrible memories resurfacing.
Tom Drake had never really moved on after his divorce from Hannah. With everything that had happened to Hannah he just felt it was best that he gave her space and slipped out of her life. He thought that was best for the both of them. When a string of robberies brought him face to face with Hannah, he didn’t know what to think, except that he would find who was responsible and keep anything bad from happening to Hannah. No matter what the cost. If only he could remember that it was “just his job,” seeing Hannah again had reminded him how much he still loved her.
Hannah couldn’t believe that she was facing Tom again. She also did not want to believe him when he warned her that there may be more to this thwarted jewelry heist than anyone initially considered. She just figured that he was trying to place her in the “victim” role again and trying to be overprotective. Despite the truth that she still had feelings for Tom, she was not going to be seen as weak by him or anyone ever again. It was to her own jeopardy that she ignored his advice and pretty soon the reality that she was being targeted was one that she could not ignore.
Would these circumstances that Hannah and Tom found themselves in be what it takes to make them face their past? Will they be able to reconnect and get past that tragic night three years ago? Or, will the race to find the truth be their undoing. Christmas Hostage is a romantic suspense that will keep you on the edge from start to finish as the story slowly reveals what is truth and what is fiction.
I really enjoyed reading Christmas Hostage, and kudos to the author for being able to take a tale of violence, assault, and atrocities and be able to weave in Christmas elements with a couple of traditions as well. As far as Christmastime goes this story is mostly focused on the robbery and mystery surrounding who was behind the robbery but the events took place on days leading up to Christmas and it has a sweet Christmassy ending. Christmas Hostage is definitely not for the faint of heart but it is a mighty good read!

Holiday Q&A with Author Jane Blythe:
When do the holidays official start for you?
That’s kind of hard to say because I would love to feel Christmassy all year round and a couple of my Christmas decorations do stay out all year round! I usually start to feel like Christmas is coming in September when things start coming out in stores, but my tree and decorations go up on December 1st, and I make my gingerbread house shortly after, then fill up the rest of the month with as many Christmassy things and as much Christmassy baking as I can!
What’s your favorite thing about the holidays?
I love so many things about Christmas time!! I love the decorations, especially Christmas trees, I love baking and cooking Christmassy treats, I love the excitement and fun of waiting for Christmas Day, I love catching up with friends I haven’t seen much during the year, I love spending time with family on Christmas Day and giving them the gifts I chose for them, and I love celebrating the birth of Jesus!
Are there any holiday traditions you do every year without fail?
Yes!! I always bake a gingerbread house the first week in December, and I always watch all my old Christmas movies and Christmas episodes of TV shows I have on DVD usually starting in November because I have so many!
What’s your favorite holiday movie?
So hard to choose because I have to many but if I had to pick then probably The Santa Clause.
Do you have a favorite holiday book?
I actually still have all the kids Christmas books I had as a child, and I get them out every year and flick through them! I couldn’t choose a favourite though, and I don’t have a favourite grown-up book either!
What’s your all-time favorite holiday song?
I actually don’t listen to music, I know I’m weird!!
What’s your favorite activity during fall or winter?
I live in Australia so its summer here at Christmastime, and my favourite summer activity is to hang out at the beach!
What’s your favorite gift you’ve ever received or given?
I love giving gifts so I don’t have a favourite, I usually finish my Christmas shopping pretty early in the year, April this year, because I always have so many ideas for gifts! And I have received so many beautiful and thoughtful gifts over the years that I couldn’t pick a favourite!
Do you have any items on your wish list this year?
Only books that I want, and oh so many of them!!
Any resolutions or goals for next year?
The only goals I have for next year are writing ones, I want to finish my Count to Ten series and write Eight, Nine and Ten!
