Perfect Love is the second book in the Perfect series. The Author is quite clear that you should read the first book in this series prior to reading this one but I am a rebel and I like to see how a book does on its own. I did find that yes, this is a series that should be read in series order, BUT the Author did a fabulous job of writing in the pertinent details so that you could enjoy this book properly. So, kudos on that, PLUS after reading this book it actually made me want to go back and read the first one, Perfect Love left me hungry for more!
That is quite unusual because most of the time I feel like I know where things stand and I am good. Nope, with this book I felt that I wanted to see how these characters fell in love. Perfect Love starts out with Quinn starting her life over again after a devastating revelation from Cash Brooks. Cash is a pro-hockey player and he was never one to settle down. He lived the life! After meeting Quinn, all that changed and he found himself wanting to be a one-woman man. Cash was not completely honest with Quinn though and it bit him in the ass! Yeah, the secret he was keeping from Quinn is not something easily worked through..like ever, but they were special circumstances to his situation. Unfortunately, Quinn would not hear them and I can’t say I blamed her.
Cash crushed Quinn’s heart, annihilated it! So, what is a girl to do? Ignore that F-er and try to move on with a shattered heart. Quinn moved out to Boston to attend Harvard and didn’t look back. Ha ha, who am I kidding, her heart was broken, she missed him terribly! She loved the guy. She didn’t stop loving him but his revelation was not one that she could ever move past. Even though she had second thoughts about not allowing him to explain himself, she had made a choice and was sticking with it. Quinn figured that a brick wall around her heart was the best solution in this situation. Although she looked put together on the outside she was never ok on the inside. She had a Cash sized hole in her heart.
Cash had never regretted anything more in his life than not telling Quinn the truth. If he had been honest about the situation they probably could have worked through it but for Quinn to find out the way that she had, he had blown it big time. He knew there was no moving on after Quinn and he turned to other means of coping which were quite harmful. Although he managed to keep his hockey career afloat he was a ticking time bomb. He was sinking further and further into harmful choices and the only thing he wanted to was to make things right with Quinn.
Quinn and Cash had not seen each other for a long time, until one night when their eyes collided at a hockey event. Things could not have gone worse for Cash and Quinn finds that she is put into an awkward situation that she could not in all good conscience refuse. It was this meeting of fate that would put her and Cash either on the road to recovery or at the very least on the road to acceptance so that they could both start to heal. Lies and deception is a hard thing to overcome in any relationship.
I think you already figured out that I really loved this story. It has action, sports, heartbreak, characters you love to hate, suspense, and a steamy little romance. It definitely did not go how I would have expected it but I found the ending to be extremely satisfying and swoony, very, very swoony. Perfect Love is just a lovely read and I would highly recommend this story to all romance readers!
