He puts the hot...
Christian Watson, a former SAS officer and current BKI operator, never thought he would return to England after a terrible turn of events forced him to abandon his homeland. But now he's back on British soil where old enemies are determined to do him in. Fighting for his life is pretty much SOP for Christian. Doing it with the beautiful, bossy Emily Scott in tow is another matter entirely.

In hot pursuit.
Emily lost her coveted job at the CIA because of a colleague turned rogue, and now she has just one rule when it comes to men: they're for recreational purposes only. But when she and Christian are thrust into very close quarters while evading two mysterious men who want Christian dead, she can't help but question all her ideas about love and life lived on the edge. Battling the bad guys is hard enough, battling her feelings for Christian just might prove impossible.

Hot Pursuit is the eleventh book in the Black Knights Inc. series. Black Knights Inc. is a covert government defense firm run under the guise of being a motorcycle repair shop. This firm takes on the missions that could not or would not be “sanctioned” by the government. The employees are a mix of ex-CIA operatives and other military backgrounds. This story is definitely non-stop action and suspense with some serious romance between two unlikely characters.

This action part of this story is that a small team of agents were forced to hunker down in England by their unknown enemy, Spider. Now Rusty, Ace, Angel, Christian and Emily are all waiting for a chance to return to Chicago, their base of operations. It seems that Spider has uncovered some information about Christian that was supposed to remain secret and this reveal has made things even more dangerous for the team. Now the heat is on and getting out of England has become a matter of life or death.

Now, the romance aspect. Christian and Emily have both secretly desired each other for a while. More like a dirty secret because everyone was aware of the sexual tension between these two characters except themselves. Forced into a living situation that puts Christian and Emily together 24/7 with no reprieve makes for a sexually charged atmosphere. Soon it becomes more than Christian can bear and he concocts a plan to get Emily to give what exists between them a chance. Despite how attracted Emily is to Christian she has a firm rule about mixing work and pleasure. She has been burned before and she will not have a repeat of that fiasco.

In addition to the main romance there was a little side romance happening between Ace and Rusty and it was something that they are both struggling with for their own reasons. As you can see, there was a lot going on in this story. I thought that the romance elements were sweet, steamy, and entertaining. I loved Christian’s character and how he handled the conflict with Emily’s insecurities was just adorable.

Everything sounds great, right?! It was, except, for me Emily’s character took away from the story. I did not connect with her character at all. I did not dislike her character but I did not think that she was that special and I had no idea really what Christian’s character found so special about her either. That attraction was explained well, buuut I just didn’t buy into it.

The overarching plot involving Spider took on a whole new spin by the end of this story and it does promise for some exciting action in the next installment as the hunt for Spider takes on some speed. There are also two possible romance angles that could come to fruition as well. Sounds like some swoony times are ahead for this series! Hot Pursuit is definitely the type of story that all lovers of romance and suspense would fall head over heels for.
