A standalone dark paranormal romance and book nine in The Soul Mate Tree series.
I feel that this passage eloquently expresses the power behind Bash’s love and commitment to his woman. This is a truly powerful story that will touch emotions in all of us. Sweet Sacrifice is the ninth book in the Soul Mate Tree series. This series is unique in that it is a multi-author series and thread that binds this series is the Legend of the Soul Mate Tree. A legend that spans time, continents, and worlds. This series is definitely a true love conquers all type of series but daaannnng the road is not an easy one.
To survive the loss of a loved one is strenuous and some people never truly recover. Well consider how it would feel if you crossed to the other side and your memories survived with you. That is exactly was happened to Sebastian “Bash” Lockard. He may have made it into Heaven’s elite army but nothing could ever replace the love he had for his wife. Even death could not break that bond and he suffered with the loss of her.
Irene Lockard was pulling her life together, well as together as she could. Making it day to day was the best that she could do. Even after two years she grieved the loss of her husband. In an effort to move on Irene was determined to be the best Matron of Honor she could be for her best friend at her wedding. She even went so far as dancing with another man in an effort to regain her sense of self.
Bash needed a break, badly, so he and a friend went to Earth to hit up a wedding and loosen up. Imagine Bash’s surprise when he sees Irene on the dance floor with a guy he knows. Granted, Bash knows he is dead but that does not stop the green head of jealously from arising in him. It took his friend a few others to drag Bash out of that reception hall but not before Irene got a glimpse of what she considered must be a ghost.
Irene had no idea what to think other than she had finally gone around the bend and was hallucinating. She left the reception immediately and went home to try and figure out what exactly was happening to her. Once at home though she was in for the surprise of a lifetime when it appeared that Bash was before her, but that couldn’t be right, because he was dead and there is no coming back from dead. Or was there??
Sweet Sacrifice is an absolute tear-jerker! I loved, loved, loved that this was a story about a couple who were married and that there love for each other survive even through that degree of separation. Just thinking about it is getting me teary eyed. Then there is the amount of sacrifice that Bash was willing to endure – epic romantic gesture. Epic! Loved it, but now I have to discuss what didn’t sit right with me. I just can’t reconcile angels swearing or being vulgar in any way. It was not written awful or anything, the writing was fantastic, it is just something I couldn’t reconcile.
Now, with that said I did love and truly enjoy this story. I know that there are lots of people out there who like stories with angels who have humanistic qualities and I am telling you that this story is for you. Sweet Sacrifice is dark, is brooding, absolutely romantic, and it does have its very steamy sexy times. I think that it is a perfect companion to the other books in this series and it fits very nicely with the Legend of the Soul Mate Tree. It was a fabulous read!
