Seventeen-year-old homecoming queen, Gracie Mason, is a budding burglar.

While attempting her inaugural break-in, Gracie blacks out and wakes up far away from the scene. It turns out she accidentally intruded on a male witch’s “circle of power,” and now she’s bonded to him for life.

Gracie quickly learns that dissolving the bond with Asher, admittedly a very handsome and charming witch, is more complicated than she initially thought. To break the bond, Gracie must delve deeper into a society of witches that involves a secret club, a shadowy council, and all sorts of magical mischief. And right when it seems things can’t get any worse, witches start turning up dead.

It’s clear that Gracie is out of her depth as her quest to sever the bond magically turns into a murder investigation. But if Gracie and Asher don’t quickly uncover the killer, they might be next on the list.

I adored this book, adored it! Pink Lock Pick and Sequined Witch Hats was a charming read. When I first started reading this story I was not so sure about the main character, Gracie. Her character struck me as a shallow and self-absorbed main character. Now wait before you start rolling any eyes. There is more to this character and that is what made me absolutely love this story.

Gracie is young and privileged with a voice that represents a trust fund baby. Her biggest stressor in life was putting together her next outfit, or so it seemed. Really Gracie was a smart, calculating, and devious character who lets nothing or no one tell her what she should do. As the story unfolds you really get an understanding of her long cons and it will crack you up and entertain you!

While attempting to break into a corporate office in order to retrieve some information, Gracie blacked out. Confused about what happened, it was not until later when she met Asher that she learned what truly transpired. In order to save her life Asher created a bond between them but it is not something that’s easily broken and Asher needed his older brother’s assistance to undo the bond. Unfortunately, his brother has been missing in action. Gracie and Asher find that it is in both of their best interests to work together and see it they can find Asher’s brother before it is too late.

Asher is a witch whose power lies with the element of earth. Additionally, he is witch royalty but is viewed as the black sheep of the family. I really enjoyed his character. He is strong, sweet, and charming. He added much humor to this story and I really connected with the relationship he had with his twin sister. I just love positive sibling relationships and they had that in spades. I liked his mom as well. Really all the characters in this story are memorable in their own ways.

Without being a spoiler I will say that something was taken from Gracie and Asher and I really wanted them to be able to get it back, so I am hoping that maybe this will be a series. I want to see where things go with those characters and maybe that Gracie will pursue the career that she focused on. I can tell you that I wanted more of these characters and I loved the writing style of Author Carla Rehse! This is a young adult story filled with humor, sass, and a sweet little romance. I highly recommend Pink Lock Pick and Sequined Witch Hats.
