TS901 was a chemical introduced to the water supply that was supposed to help humanity and it did for most of the population. There were a select few humans that were negatively impacted. These humans had DNA that when combined with the TS901 chemical turned them into mutants, now known as a “Maly.” Whereas an ordinary person was referred to as a “Nary.”
Cool mutants with many different super powers. Some examples would be having a sonic voice, being able to control electricity, mind control, and super strength. The list just goes on and on. Now, I say “cool” and I mean it but for these people they immediately became outcasts. Families were torn apart as the Malies were forced to separate from their loved ones and live in a sectioned off area.
This area became known as the hive. The Anomalies were not treated as humans anymore and they were not allowed to leave. The borders of the hive were policed by soldiers and the only maly that was able to interact with the soldiers on a regular basis was Thia Kelly. Thia was the only maly that seemed almost unaffected by the TS901. It was unclear what her mutation was but she was the only one allowed to intercede for the Malies.
Thia knew beyond a doubt that life in the hive was unsustainable. The government was lying to the public and she knew that she had to expose them. Her first step in exposing the lies was to free Evan, known as patient #1, from the facility he was being held in. Through freeing Evan, she was going to prove to the public that the officials were lying and experimenting on the malies for nefarious purposes, not trying to help them. There was also the little fact that despite his abandoning her, Thia still cared about her ex-boyfriend and she was going to free him no matter what.
Leading a ragtag crew to break into a nearly impenetrable facility, Thia knows that this mission is risky but she knows that giving up in not an option. What she finds when she gets to the Hill is nothing short of horror. Just freaky and terrifying! She must put aside her feelings of trepidation and find her inner strength in order to complete this mission. Along the way, Thia will learn that in order to save her people she must come to grips with her own mutation and make some hard choices.
So, what was my favorite part? I have to say, everything! The malies, the superpowers, the government conspiracy, the struggle between right and wrong, and the whole angst of it all. Soooo good! There are plenty and twists and turns in this story to keep your imagination on high the entire time. TS901: Anomaly – Rise of the Rebels is an exciting and nail-biting blend of science fiction, paranormal and romance genre’s that will amaze you. I highly recommend this book!
