Veronica’s first date with Sebastian not only stirs up a powerful attraction, but also a series of supernatural events that will tear them apart.

After countless hours of dead end online dating, Veronica meets up with Sebastian at a reportedly haunted restaurant, since he knows she has a fascination with the paranormal. While enjoying their meals and each other’s company, they share a shocking supernatural experience. Their romantic connection is overshadowed by the ghosts of their own pasts that threaten to destroy their budding relationship. Veronica decides she must return to the restaurant to face her past and dig up more answers. Unfortunately, she realizes she must go back, this time with a reluctant Sebastian. In the end, they join forces against the evil that stands between them, but will they make it out alive?

When I started reading Dead over Heels, I was expecting a sweet little romance with a hint of the paranormal. Wow! What I received was an appetizer of romance and a serving of paranormal with a side dish of horror. I thoroughly enjoyed this short story and managed to be surprised by the ending. This is a gem of a novella!

Veronica’s character was a hoot! I wanted to know more about her from the start. As her backstory developed I found that I really liked Veronica and I definitely wanted nothing but happiness for her. Sebastian’s character was a good supporting character for Veronica and it was nice that they both saw the apparitions that appeared at the haunted restaurant. Although, at first neither of them knew what to think about the apparent “ghostly appearance” of the couple they supposedly saw in the restaurant.

What neither of them ever suspected was that the ghosts that they saw had a connection to both Veronica and Sebastian. Once discovered, this connection made things a little awkward between them and Sebastian quickly put on the breaks between them. Veronica was not so willing to let the possibilities that existed with Sebastian be ruined by a supernatural occurrence.

Taking things into her own hands, Veronica hatched a plan that would hopefully give the ghostly couple the closure that they needed. With their presence moved on to where ever spirits go, Veronica had hoped that she and Sebastian would be able to rectify the situation between them and have their happily ever after. Sometimes though, even well laid plans can have consequences that are very, very, final.

I thoroughly enjoyed this short story. I was absolutely shocked by the ending because it was never what I expected. Veronica’s character was nicely developed and was one that I would want to know more about. I found myself empathetic towards the ghostly couple as their story unfolded. No one deserved the ending that they got but wow did it make for a fascinating story. I highly recommend Dead over Heels for readers who like a short story with all the feels. Such a great read.
