Lord Lucius Loudoun is capable of success in only two endeavors... work and women. Bedding them, anyway. He's given up trying to accomplish anymore. So why is he even tempted by an innocent like Miss May Stanley?

May has loved Loudoun since she was a child, but he looks straight through her, still treating her like she's a girl of thirteen instead of a woman of twenty. How will she ever convince him to give her a chance?

As the two tangle, attraction ignites, but can that spark become a flame?

Lucius Loudon made quite the impression in the previous installment of the Taming the Heart series. A negative impression that is. He was a drunk and acted like a petulant child. Not a very likable character indeed. At the end of that story he had given up his drinking ways and was aboard a boat heading for America where Barrett was giving him a chance to prove that he truly wanted to change.

In Taming a Rogue Earl about six years have passed and Lucius has indeed given up alcohol and done a fine job of managing Barrett’s American holdings. He is surprised by Barrett showing up unannounced to sit in on some final business dealings that Lucius has been spearheading. More surprising is the passenger that has come with Barrett.

Lucius has not seen May since she was a child but as sad as it is to say, she was probably his first friend. She accompanied him on his initial trip to America and took care of him, read to him, and was a considerate companion to him on that miserable voyage. He has never forgotten her kindness but to see her as a woman, a very attractive woman was more than he could handle at that moment. He would forever be grateful to May for her kindness but he was having a hard time seeing her all grown up.

May was excited about coming to America. She was determined that she would land herself an American husband and that she would stay in America. She did not want to go back to England and the ton where she never quite fit in. May had never considered Lucius anything more than her girlhood crush but when she saw him again after so much time had passed, well maybe she had more than a crush after all. May was determined that Loudoun would see her as more than the little girl that he remembered.

May has her work cut out for her as Lucius is determined that he deserves nothing good and no one as wonderful as May. May is torn between landing herself an American husband or following her heart where ever it may lead. There is plenty to enjoy in this book with the comical dealings between Lucius and May as well as a few unsavory characters thrown into the mix. I quite enjoyed this installment in the Taming the Heart series.

Author Tammy Andresen

Tammy Andresen lives with her husband and three children just outside of Boston, Massachussetts. Her childhood was spent on the Seacoast of Maine, where she spent countless days dreaming up stories in blueberry fields and among the scrub pines that line the coast. Her mother loved to spin a yarn and Tammy spent many hours listening to her mother retell the classics. She never left Massachusetts but some of her heart still resides in Maine and her family visits often.
