March 2017 Books to Read Goals

Posted March 2, 2017 by Minx

I can’t believe March is already here but I am ready! There are several books coming out this month that I have pre-ordered and can’t wait to add to my collection. Two I am especially looking forward to and they are:

Traitor to the Throne by Alwyn HamiltonMere months ago, gunslinger Amani al’Hiza fled her dead-end hometown on the back of a mythical horse with the mysterious foreigner Jin, seeking only her own freedom. Now she’s fighting to liberate the entire desert nation of Miraji from a bloodthirsty sultan who slew his own father to capture the throne.

When Amani finds herself thrust into the epicenter of the regime—the Sultan’s palace—she’s determined to bring the tyrant down. Desperate to uncover the Sultan’s secrets by spying on his court, she tries to forget that Jin disappeared just as she was getting closest to him, and that she’s a prisoner of the enemy. But the longer she remains, the more she questions whether the Sultan is really the villain she’s been told he is, and who’s the real traitor to her sun-bleached, magic-filled homeland.

The Song Rising by Samantha Shannon

Following a bloody battle against foes on every side, Paige Mahoney has risen to the dangerous position of Underqueen, ruling over London’s criminal population.

But, having turned her back on Jaxon Hall and with vengeful enemies still at large, the task of stabilizing the fractured underworld has never seemed so challenging.

Little does Paige know that her reign may be cut short by the introduction of Senshield, a deadly technology that spells doom for the clairvoyant community and the world as they know it . .

I have read both previous books in these series and have been eagerly anticipating where the characters are going next in their journey’s.

Two of these books I had previously read as eARCs (Dragons Against Them and A Perilous Undertaking) but some books I just like to add to my collection. So I have 3 new books to read when I can.

My TBR Shelf for March 2017

TBR shelf for March 2017

This is my TBR shelf at the start of March. It is pretty full and with what I already have pre-ordered, is going to be overflowing. Yikes! So here are my goals for this month off this shelf. I am hoping to read:

eARCs (electronic advanced reviewer copies)

In the month of March I intend to limit my reading a bit. One week my kids are on spring break then another week of this month I am running a book fair and it is a BUSY time for me. So here are the eARCs I plan on reading.

Red Sister by Mark LawrenceI was born for killing – the gods made me to ruin.

At the Convent of Sweet Mercy young girls are raised to be killers. In a few the old bloods show, gifting talents rarely seen since the tribes beached their ships on Abeth. Sweet Mercy hones its novices’ skills to deadly effect: it takes ten years to educate a Red Sister in the ways of blade and fist.

But even the mistresses of sword and shadow don’t truly understand what they have purchased when Nona Grey is brought to their halls as a bloodstained child of eight, falsely accused of murder: guilty of worse.

Stolen from the shadow of the noose, Nona is sought by powerful enemies, and for good reason. Despite the security and isolation of the convent her secret and violent past will find her out. Beneath a dying sun that shines upon a crumbling empire, Nona Grey must come to terms with her demons and learn to become a deadly assassin if she is to survive…

Taming a Rake into a Lord by Tammy Andresen Christopher Masters is a first class rake. Having retired as a spy, he thinks he may spend the next year or two gambling and drinking as a way to forget the horrors of his past. Quite suddenly, he is thrown into a new role entirely when he inherits the title and properties of the Earl of Winthrop. He has no desire for such a role but even more distressing is the ward that accompanies the estate.

Lady Elizabeth knows that her future is uncertain. But when a handsome new earl arrives and announces that the will requires her to marry within the year, all hope is lost. Having cared for her father these past months, she is less than a wallflower. At least those ladies attended the ball. But if she doesn’t marry, a new Earl might take Chris’ place, Bernard Sinclair. She can’t explain it, but his attention frightens her more than she can express.

As Chris attempts to help Lizzie find a suitable husband, his attraction for her cannot be denied. Will his past cripple his future or can Lizzie tame the rake into a lord?

Bound by Benedict JackaRight now I wasn’t seeing Richard as the teacher out of my nightmares, he was just another Dark mage, and I looked into the future to see what would happen if I turned that knife on him instead…

Alex Verus is still haunted by his time apprenticed to Richard Drakh. He’s been free of him for many years, but now the only way to keep his friends from being harmed is to again work for Richard and his deadly ally. Even worse, he’s forced to bring the Light mage Anne into this servitude as well.

After weeks of being hunted and finally cornered into what he thought was his last stand, Alex never thought his life would be spared—and never anticipated at what price. This time, the diviner can see no way out…

So that is it for my March 2017 To Be Read goals. What are your plans?

Love Always,

  1. I admire people who can make a reading list for the month and stick to it. I’m such a mood reader that it’s hard. I’ll pick out what will be reviewed that month and then every other book I read will be whatever I feel like picking up. Even with that I end up changing my review choices.
RED SISTER looks really cool, I’m looking forward to your review.

    • I hope you found my review to be interesting enough for you to want to read RED SISTER. I also apologize for not responding sooner. This message was sitting in my spam folder. Thank you for your comment. 🙂

Comments?.....I would love to hear from you.....♥️
