From award-winning author Tiana Warner comes the sequel to Ice Massacre, the #1 Amazon Kindle Best Seller.
Meela has just returned from the Massacre—the annual attempt to wipe out the mermaids threatening her people’s survival. After forming an unlikely connection with Lysi, a mermaid she was trained to kill, Meela is determined to stop the war between humans and merpeople for good. She knows of a legendary weapon that could bring peace if she uses it against King Adaro, ruler of the Pacific Ocean. But her people have plans for future Massacres and refuse to help her uncover it.
While Meela works in secret to unearth the Host of Eriana, Lysi is held captive under Adaro’s tyranny. Sent to the battlefront, Lysi joins forces with a band of rebels that could either bring her freedom—or have her executed for treason.
Separated by the vast Pacific Ocean, Meela and Lysi must find a way to defeat King Adaro and end the war that has been keeping them apart.

Being a huge fan of mermaids and mermen I jumped on a chance to read this book and I was blown away by the writing, depth of characters and the world development. This story is told from the point of view of both Meela and Lysi, which is just wonderful because it really adds the emotional draw.
The story starts out where it’s predecessor, Ice Massacre, left off. Meela has returned to her people and is looking for information about “The Host” that King Adaro desperately wants. Not knowing what the Host is and coming to a dead end with all the knowledge that she has at her fingertips, Meela has hatched a plan to beseech her people to help her. Unfortunately while she was gone and also that she was seen being saved by Lysi, there has been some shifting of power back at home and Meela has no support for uncovering what the Host is. Well initially no help besides that of her best friend Annith. If Meela does not figure out what the Host is she will lose Lysi forever as King Adaro is holding her prisoner until Meela delivers what he wants, after all she did strike the bargain to save Lysi’s life. Losing Lysi is not an option as far as Meela is concerned and she will do whatever she can to ensure the safety of one she holds so dear.
This is an action packed story that will keep you on edge from beginning to end. It is thought provoking and is truly a story about how far some will go for the one’s they love. The writing is spot on and very detailed, honestly I loved how she portrayed the differences between the mermaids and mermen. There was a good dramatic tension between Meela and her people that was just the right amount to add angst but not take away from the story. The main bad guy is King Adaro and he is written in such a way that you hate him just enough, lol, if there is such a thing. I truly enjoyed the underwater perspective, really made the story memorable. I may be ruined, as this story might be the bar that I judge all other mermaid books against. Such a good read!
