On his own.
Thomas Bellweather hasn’t been in town long. Just long enough for his newlywed mother to be murdered, and for his new stepdad’s cop colleagues to decide Thomas is the primary suspect.
Not that there’s any evidence. But before Thomas got to Garretts Mill there had just been one other murder in twenty years.
The only person who believes him is Charlotte Rooker, little sister to three cops and, with her soft hands and sweet curves, straight-up dangerous to Thomas. Her best friend was the other murder vic. And she’d like a couple answers.
Answers that could get them both killed, and reveal a truth Thomas would die to keep hidden…
When I tagged the book to read I thought it was going to be a new adult book about solving a crime. What is it really about? Thomas and Charlotte in a Romeo and Juliet style love affair that revolves around a crime. The book is solidly written. The dialogue is in 2 different point of views, so it has some witty things happening there. All the characters involved are believable and realistic. Even though it was not what I was expecting I was really enjoying it up until the point that the plot took a turn that I really wish it had not. What was introduced was not properly explained and was not done in a way that could ever be believable in my opinion given the “setting” that the story had been built in. I felt that the new element threw off the entire story and I did not enjoy that as it pertained to solving the mystery. After that the story still carried on but just left me going wha wha whaaa and there it is….a 2.5 rating.
