"I see your future clearly. Your master will be dead, and you will be alone. It would be better if you had never been born."

Thomas Ward is the apprentice for the local Spook, who banishes boggarts and drives away ghosts. But now a new danger is threatening Tom's world. The witches are rising and the three most powerful clans are uniting in order to conjure an unimaginable evil.

Tom and the Spook set out to stop the witches before they unleash the demon. But when Tom finds himself on his own, he wonders if he has the courage and cunning to defeat the most powerful enemy he has ever encountered.

Attack of the fiend by Joseph DelaneyThomas Ward is an apprentice to the County Spook, who banishes mythical creatures and drives away ghosts. Tom’s world is being threatened by 3 clans of witches bent on destroying him and in order to do that they will band together to bring about an unimaginable evil. Will Tom have what it takes to survive both the witches and evil? Muhhhuuuuaaaa

I do enjoy the last apprentice series. I know it is juvenile fiction but it is very entertaining. In every book there is growth from all the main characters and it does not feel repetitive. Every story is its’ own story and the addition of the new characters (whom usually die) are indeed well thought and rounded. The addition of Tom’s two feral aunts are the highlight of this story for me. Also, Alice…sigh…she is just great. Tom is just crazy not to appreciate her more…but I guess trying not to die constantly can do that to you. Entertaining read!

About Joseph Delaney

Author Joseph Delaney

Joseph Delaney is a retired English teacher. He has three children and nine grandchildren and is a wonderful public speaker available for conference, library and bookshop events. His home is in the middle of Boggart territory and his village has a boggart called the Hall Knocker, which was laid to rest under the step of a house near the church.

Most of the places in the Spook’s books are based on real places in Lancashire. And the inspiration behind the stories often comes from local ghost stories and legends.
